‘Tis the season… for tree lightings and Christmas parades


The 2017 ABC 11 Raleigh Christmas Parade will be held this Saturday, November 18, 2017. This is the largest Christmas Parade between Washington, DC and Atlanta.


The 2017 Knightdale Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Friday, December 1st, 6-8pm at the Knightdale Station Park Amphitheater. The event will include letters to Santa, visiting with Mrs. Claus and the head elves, activities, food vendors, music, performances and a visit from Santa!  The tree is lit at the conclusion of the event.

The Knightdale Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 2nd beginning at 2pm.

Wake Forest

Wake Forest will officially kick off the holiday season with the Lighting of Wake Forest on
Friday, Dec. 1 from  6-8:30 pm at Centennial Plaza, Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.

Then, on December 9th, 2017, at 1 pm,  celebrate the holiday season at Wake Forest’s largest community event – the Wake Forest Christmas Parade.


The official Christmas tree lighting for the Town of Cary will happen on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. This festive night features actors, singers, and musicians from the community. They will  also unveil the Cary Community Christmas Tree inside Town Hall. Over 125 community groups provide handcrafted ornaments to be displayed on the inside tree – a true representation of the diversity of Cary.

The Cary Jaycees presents 2017 Cary Jaycees Christmas Parade – Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2 pm in downtown Cary, NC.


The Annual “Christmas on Salem Street” events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday December 1st with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree by Mayor Lance Olive. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Downtown Fire House between 5:45 and 6:00 PM.

The Apex Grand Christmas Parade is happening on December 2nd, 2017 and starts down Salem Street at 5:00 PM.

Holly Springs

Main Street Christmas in Holly Springs kicks off at 6 pm on December 8th, 2017. The annual Town tree lighting will happen on the Cultural Center lawn at 8 p.m.

The Happy Holly Days Christmas Parade is held the second Saturday of every December. The 2017 parade will be held, rain or shine, Dec. 9. And starts at 11 am.

 Fuquay Varina

The Fuquay Varina Town Tree Lighting is scheduled for Thur., Nov. 30th, 2017 and starts at 6 pm. In addition to the tree lighting and performances by local choral groups, there will be an ice skating rink from 5-10 pm!  Visit with Santa or become a part of the scenery in a life-size snow globe.  Remember to bring your camera to capture these priceless hometown memories!  It’s all free!

The Fuquay-Varina Chamber will host the annual Christmas Parade on Sun., Dec. 3 at 3 pm on Main St. in downtown


Kick off the holiday season at the Durham Holiday Parade and Fun Fest!  You’re invited to join in the fun as dynamic floats, hometown bands, drill teams, schools and community groups make their way down Main Street. The parade will conclude with a special guest appearance by Santa.At the Fun Fest, enjoy snow sledding, inflatable bounce houses, arts and crafts activities, visits with Santa, train rides, music, and more.

Chapel Hill

Downtown Chapel Hill kicks off the holiday season with a Community Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Memorial Garden of University Baptist Church; 100 S. Columbia Street, on Sunday, December 3 at 6 p.m.  Come be a part of a wonderful holiday tradition in the Triangle… The Chapel Hill- Carrboro Holiday Parade! Experience the exciting sights and sounds of marching bands, vocalists, beautifully decorated floats, and youth group performances. The parade promises to deliver everything the holiday season has to offer including elves, reindeer, candy canes, and of course, Santa Claus!
